Snow Day!

The kids were so excited this morning to find the snow that was promised to come while they slept. It started snowing sometime during the night, and continued into the afternoon. True to their word, the base did not close, and John got to commute to work with all the other crazy commuters who tried to avoid being one of the many hapless drivers who wound up in the ditch. He wasn't quite so enamored with the snow by the end of the day. Conner fared better and got the day off. Here he is getting some help starting a HUGE snowman.

He was trying to roll it from the front yard to the back. But his helpers quickly tired and abandoned him...

This little guy lasted outside a lot longer than I thought he would.

And Olivia finally got to make the snow angel she's been talking about ever since she heard that living in Ohio meant snow. Snow that sticks. She was just a little disappointed to learn that snow didn't automatically mean Christmas...

I even played Becky Home-Eckie and brewed up some real hot chocolate, which Conner enjoyed by the fire before he went out for another round, this time with some friends his own age who invited him to go sledding. We may not have mountains here, but this part of the country does have some pretty good hills. We experienced a little round of nostalgia when we thought about the last time he went sledding -- in the mountains by our home in Italy, which now seems like a world away.

Gosh, that takes me back to the kind of snows we used to get so often when I was growing up. They are so fun! - I'm sure the kids loved it. You might get a little tired of all the clothes on and off by the 7th or 8th snow. But they'll remember it forever.

Looks like tons of fun to me. We are getting a fair bit of snow here in KC today and am loving it. Me and the dog are cuddled up on the couch drinking hot tea (just me, not the dog). If I knew how to build a fire in my fireplace, I would be cuddled up in front of a fire...maybe another time when Alex can do it for me! Tell the kids to keep up the good fun. It doesn't last forever!

Looks mega cozy! Thanks for visiting. And thanks to your family for serving our country. We are proud of you guys! I know it is not easy moving a million times.

What great pictures! It looks like much fun was had. As much as I don't like snow, I look forward to taking the Little Mister out when he's a year or so older. He'll love it! I think kids have something in their brains to help them ignore the cold to prolong their fun. :)

Mmmmmm...there's nothing like real hot cocoa after playing in the snow!! You are supermom!

Thanks so much for your encouraging comments on my blog...it means a lot coming from another military wife. The frustrating thing is that my goal with the family group was to have a group without all the cattiness and gossip that is usually associated with a "wives' group", but women are just so mean to each other!! Why is that???

Anyway, you mentioned before that you were curious about my background. If you still are, go to my profile, click on "email me", and ask away!!

Was the last time Conner went sledding the day Grant and I were with you up the mountain at the ski resort? That day definitely didn't go according to plan but ended up being a great one anyway, one I will always remember. I miss Italy too!

OO the snow. I so want my boys to see snow SOON and be able to make a snowman. We will have to do some traveling to see snow though!
