Once Upon A Time There Was a Little Girl Who Needed a Haircut.

So her mother cut it.

But the little girl decided that she wanted it cut some more, so she took the matter into her own hands. For several weeks the little girl went around looking like a homeless waif. Or at least like the daughter of a woman who should not be allowed to cut hair.

But eventually the mother did take her daughter in for some professional intervention.
The hairdresser was very sweet. "It could have been worse." And the mother knew she was right. She has seen children who take the scissors right up to their scalp. The hairdresser gave her a cute bob and declared, "Now people will think you're eight instead of six!" The daughter seemed quite taken by the idea. But the mother was not. "Oh, no no no." That would never do. There is no hurry for these things. Her little girl is growing up quite fast enough on her own, thank you very much.

What fun (the professonal) for Olivia. And yes, it could have been worse. I know from experience; I had 3 girls. I want to see an "After" picture, although I know she'll look adorable.

I love that story. I am sure her new do is so cute!

So, thanks for getting so tickled at my latest blog entry. I was pretty mortified. Plus, our neighbor has a bit of a drinking problem. He is very sweet, but reeks of alcohol at any given time of the day. His wife is precious. Pretty sure she doesn't drink a drop. Anyway, not only did I have to explain what a doula was from scratch, I am not sure he really gave a rip! :)

Ilsa had a bob when she was 6...it's such a cute cut at that age! Olivia looks adorable.

And all my kids cut their own hair at some point. I think it's inevitable. Abel cut his bangs up to the scalp; we had to give him a buzz cut to make it "work." And Ilsa, in school one day, decided to cut her eyelashes off. Yeah.

Olivia is such a pretty little girl. Home-made hair cut or not. :)

Hello there. Knocking on your door from the blog party. Hope you don’t mind.

Love the haircut.

I love how you wrote this blog. Seems like most little girls around that age like to pretend that they are hairdressers. Oh well. The haircut is cute.

Too cute - and yes, they should stay little as long as possible. And then they start 'really' changing and there's just no going back. Sigh... Susan

Lovely pictures and love your blog. Found your blog by accident. I teach Sunday School to first and second graders, so chuckled. A couple of self-haircuts in our classroom also. I used to try and cut my own kids' hair, but by about this age the girls at least were insisting that they wanted a "real" (ie: not Mom's) haircut.

She probably did a better job than I did, the first (and last) time I attempted to cut my son's hair!
